I just picked up a JD 770 4wd with a Model 70 loader. My first tractor. Its a 1997/8 with 560 hrs on it. I would rate it as "good condition", and getting better the more I clean the dirt and minor surface rust on it. Mechanically its perfect, except for the seat which the guy's horse took a bite out of... I paid $6k which I think is a steal!
I have been looking for filters and fluids to do a complete changeout on it so it will have a fresh start. Is there a "best" place to buy these? Other than going to Kitsap Tractor which I know will have filters and such, are these common things I can find at an auto parts place? Like the oil, air, fuel filters? How about the oil, coolant, hydraulic fluid?

I am a firm believer in using original equipment filters. The prices for filters at the dealer is usually cheaper than the auto parts substitutes. Any good name brand oil is probably ok if you check that they meet the manufacturer's specs, although I prefer factory oil there also. ....

I second jdgreen, preference. I use all John Deere filters and oils. They around about the same price and in some cases cheaper. They are also very good filters made by Fleetguard in most cases. I purchased a 55 gallon drum of John Deere 15W-40 Plus 50 which came to about $1.29 per quart. ....

Thanks for the advice. I went and bought all OEM parts and fluids. I guess if Im smart enough to change out everything before I use this I should be smart enough to take your advice and use the original stuff.
Thanks again
